Aston University 50th Birthday

Peace of Mind: The contribution to students, academic life, and the community of GRiST, GRaCE, and myGRaCE

Aston is 50 this year and on the weekend of April 23rd, the GRiST team at Aston gave a presentation about the history of GRiST, it's link to research and teaching at Aston, and future plans for GRiST as it moves to its new GRaCE profile.

Abstract: We live in a crowded world but in our minds we can often feel lonely and forgotten. GRiST and GRaCE are web-based applications that reconnect us within a caring and supportive network using advice from thousands of mental-health experts. The goal is to reduce risks such as suicide and violence, improve wellbeing, and help us live safely in the community.

A parallel presentation was taking place in the ALICE lab owned by Computer Science at Aston. A GRiST PhD student, Ali Rezaei-Yazdi, was presenting his work on risk screening that uses dynamic analysis of data to advise on the most appropriate next question to ask.
