Chris Buckingham, eGRiST's managing director, attended an entrepreneurial seminar held at iCentrum, Innovation Birmingham, to gather some ideas and inspiration for eGRiST's spin-out from Aston University.
Participants at the iCentrum seminar
Earlier this year, we announced that the GRiST projects are spinning out from Aston into a new company, eGRiST Ltd (read more). Commercialisation brings a range of new challenges, as well as some new opportunities for us to build on. The iCentrum seminar gave the opportunity to meet experienced entrepreneurs and learn more about running a successful business.
iCentrum is part of the Innovation Birmingham campus, which provides office, conference and meeting spaces, as well as co-working opportunities for businesses. Innovation Birmingham is a hub for innovative small businesses in Birmingham and runs regular business events. It also hosts the Serendip Smart City Incubator, offering digital start-ups market access and expertise through partnerships with major organisations.
The seminar was extremely useful, and we expect Innovation Birmingham's facilities and events to be valuable to us over the coming months as we progress with the spin-out.
